Description
Fairchild Dobros & Custom-Built Guitars, Dreadnaught and Mandolins, are being produced for over 35 years.Note these photos show Brazilian Rosewood that was purchased from Martin Guitar Company, in Nazareth Pennsylvania over 35 years ago. The Rosewood was estimated at being at least 25 years old at that time, Ray bought it from Martin Guitar...and other guitar components. Martin never made a lap style Dobro.
Luthier, Raymond Fairchild incorporates innovative ideas in all his instruments and each instrument is in some way unique or one of a kind. This Dobro is a large body, depth, measuring 3-3/4 inches at the neck and 4-3/4 inches, at the tail piece. Loud voice with a strong sustain, baffled open body, no sound ring or posts. The front, and sides are solid Martin Brazilian Rosewood. The back is a thinner, Martin Brazilian Rosewood laminated onto hard maple full back.
Fret markers are unique abalone and resemble the Martin D28 pattern and has 22 frets. Natural lacquer finish. Brazilian Rosewood fret board. Head plate is also Brazilian Rosewood. Saddle inserts are ebony capped maple. Tuners are Schaller. Strings are Beard. Has a Beard cone. Spider is Beard #14. All other metal hardware is from Stew-Mac. I have a Fairchild, Brazilian Rosewood Dobro...with a Spruce top...a relative to this guitar....same materials in the construction, and both Dobros compare in sound and tone and sustain. This Dobro comes with a hard-shell case, ships inside a cardboard box designed for shipping guitars.
This Dobro ships free to the buyer
Will not ship Internationally ...This Dobro can be seen and played in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, prior to buying. Contact me with questions and if you want to test drive this Dobro.
You can contact me at 610-216-0374....or Ray Fairchild directly at 610-703-6789
This will be a great sounding guitar for any Dobro players...but also an investment for the future.
Best Regards,
Tom
