    Description

American Flyer by Gilbert #20711 1962 "The Rocket" set! This is a used set. This is NOT a perfect set Original box is not included. The original box is rough. Main box corners are taped together. (See photos) If you want it then it'll cost a little more for shipping. So here is the skinny: The #L-2004 F-9 Diesel is in nice condition, no broken parts; however the gears won't engage properly. You'll have to get this fixed. I don't know how to repair it or I would. White roof paint has dulled over the years. Also, the back end of the engine looks like it was cracked and repaired at one time. #24328 Shell Tank car is a little above average and complete and no broken parts, #25081 NYC Hay Jector car is nice and comes with (3) boxes that eject out of the freight car; it has one repaired coupler, #24578 New Haven Flat car has the Corvette load; the flat car is in excellent condition. The Corvette has been used. A former owner tried to apply decals and accruements but didn't do a very good job. Fortunately it has spare parts to complete the car build. (See photos) The one thing I found out is that the screws in the flat car do not match up with the Corvette. I don't know why? You'll have to decide how to deal with that. Last of all #24636 caboose is standard and is average for this time period of Gilbert trains. All in all this is a nice set to work on. The F-9 diesel wants to run fast. I can see it now. Wow! You won't go wrong with this set! Comes with a #22006 transformer. Winning bidder to pay .95 shipping and handling. Foreign winner pays actual shipping charges. Check out my other auction items!
