    This beauty was purchased on a trip in 1969 down Highway 61 in Percy Alabama at a little store that was there which was more like a shack that had soda pop and cracklins and some guys sitting on the porch talking and drinking and playing a little music, but mostly smokin.  I bought it from a man there who said he wanted to buy a new guitar and had been with this one for a long while. I gave him some money and thought I would learn to play. I was right about buying it, but never learned to make it sound like it shopuld. I'm 74 now and time to go. The little piece broke in the back of my 1963 Ford Econoline Van. I found out recently that  is a 1938-1940 Kay Deluxe Resonator Guitar.  It was most likely one of the few remaining resonators Kay actually manufactured for National.  This Kay uses the Schireson Cone Resonator instead of the National styleed one. IOt seems that when the contract elapsed with National that Kay kept some stock and marketed it on their own. National sued and confiscated the remaining stock and destroyed them, but as in so many situations ..................  some were "secreted" away.  It is estimated that fewer than 100 of these remained in 1938 after National quit using Kay and Regal as backup suppliers.  Kay put their own logo on the handful of stock they had left and distributed these under their name.  This guitar should not be confused with Kay ' s Wood Amplifying guitar which was produced around 1929 and used wooden components which is exceedingly rare.  I think that you will love it. Roberto plays the National version built by Kay on the Playing For Change songs. It's cool as can be .................. I apologize if I got any of the part names or what they are made of wrong .....  I flunked "tonette". . If anyone knows the wood on this for the bosy or neck, please let me know.
