Description
Dobro circa 1932-1934 round nut (playable with and without slide) and constructed with the aluminum tricone (spider). Patent # 1896484 by John Dopyera, in the 1929. The Dopyera brothers partnered with National Guitars in 1932. National-Dopyera Guitar Company contracted with Regal and other manufacturers in the early 30s right through 1934 when Dopyera re-organized to form Valco. This instrument shows some appointments consistent with a Regal headstock. The Dobro decal is worn off or was removed. The instrument was owned and played by a Blues guitarist out of Sarasota, Florida until his death in the late 1990s. I have owned it since then. The instrument retains all original parts and finish, but for the decal. Top, back, sides and neck are mahogany. Significant finish checking with a few scratches on back. Play wear is noticeable on the neck and fretboard. Carter's Vintage Instruments performed the setup and can authenticate originality. Comes with a hardshell case.
